Standard 3-Stone System Precision Knife Sharpening Kit
The Lansky® Controlled-Angle Sharpening System is a guided knife sharpening system that ensures your knife gets sharpened to the exact bevel you specify every time. This system is designed to give your blade a professional, razor-sharp edge regardless of your sharpening ability. Excellent for beginners and advanced users alike. The original and legendary Controlled-Angle System is the ultimate in Knife Sharpening technology.
The Standard Knife Clamp included in the system holds the knife steady, and holds the angle guide static and firm, so that the user can achieve the desired angle with every stroke of the sharpener. The Coarse to Fine hones provide a good range of grits for edge care and maintenance. The Lansky® system is perfect for outdoor sporting, kitchen or workshop knives, and offers the widest range of accessories available. In production for over 45 years, the Lansky® Sharpening System has been the most preferred, and best sharpening system for DIY and cutlery enthusiasts worldwide.
The Lansky® Controlled-Angle Sharpening System allows the user to select the sharpening angles that are best suited for their knife's intended use.
The four sharpening angles and their uses are listed below:
17° Angle - A severe angle recommended for razor blades, fillet knives or similar tools. An extremely sharp but delicate edge.
20° Angle - A commonly used angle for higher quality blades and provides an excellent edge for kitchen cutlery and slicing knives.
25° Angle - The recommended angle for most knives that need a durable, sharp edge. Ideal for hunting and outdoor knives.
30° Angle - An outstanding angle for knives that cut cardboard, rope or carpets. Best for heavy duty use.

I wanted to take a minute and share just how much Lansky has been a part of my life over the years. I bought my first Lansky kit — the basic alumina oxide set — somewhere around 1992 or 1993. Back then, $20-$30 wasn’t something you just swiped a card for and forgot about for us. That was a sit-down-at-the-kitchen-table kind of decision, figuring out how to make it fit in the budget without upsetting the whole apple cart. Looking back now, I can honestly say it’s one of the best purchases I ever made. Since then, I’ve picked up — or been gifted — more diamond sets than I can easily count. If I had to guess, I’ve probably owned six or seven full sets over the years, along with several partials and more replacement stones and hones than I could keep track of. Suffice it to say, your system has seen a lot of time in my hands, and has put edges on hundreds of knives along the way. After all these years with the Lansky System, I’ve actually had to stop sharpening knives for friends and family — at least to what I consider “done right.” It got to where every time I’d hand a knife back, somebody would end up needing stitches within a few days. And I’m not exaggerating. I even warned a dental surgeon once while we were processing game at the hunting club — he kind of laughed it off “I’m used to scalpels” — and sure enough, he wound up in the ER getting stitched up. That’s about when I decided maybe I needed to dial it back for other folks. That even includes my wife. These days, we’ve got a very clear understanding in the kitchen: there are “my” knives, and there are “her” knives, and we keep a respectful distance between the two for everybody’s safety. For what it’s worth, my process these days is running through the full progression of stones, except for the new 4000 grit stone which I will get very soon, and then finishing on the Lansky leather strop with 1-micron diamond emulsion. Over the past week, I managed to put a true “hair-whittling” edge on a $35 Chinese AR-RPM9 blade, which I’ll admit I was pretty proud of. These days, I find sharpening knives to be just about the most relaxing thing I do. There’s something about the rhythm of it, the patience, the process — it just settles the mind. Truth be told, I’d be a little lost without my Lansky set when my brain needs quieting. I work from home now, and my days are spent sitting in front of a desk full of computer monitors. The way my work flows, I end up with a few minutes of downtime here and there while I’m waiting on data pulls and calculations to finish before I can move on to the next thing. Lately, instead of picking up my phone and doomscrolling like everybody else, I just set my Lansky up right there on my desk and sharpen a knife a few minutes at a time. By the end of the day, I’ve usually put a pretty fine edge on something, and I’m in a better mood than if I’d spent that time staring at the news. It may sound a little funny to some folks, but that little sharpening kit has probably done more for my stress level over the years than most people would believe. I just wanted y’all to know this isn’t just a product I picked up once upon a time — it’s something I’ve used, relied on, and appreciated for over 30 years now. That kind of staying power is hard to come by these days, and I figured it was worth taking a moment to say so. Thank you for making something that’s stood the test of time and stayed a part of my life all these years.
I purchased one of these in 1988, and believe it or not, it's still as effective as it was back then. I have sharpened and re-sharpened hundreds of knives for the past 30+ years. I find this work exceptionally relaxing, and the benefits of always having extremely sharp knives at the ready now that I cook more often. You will not be disappointed, and neither will the one I purchased this very same kit for.
